Sara's Love Story; Part 1

So, here we are…a couple of months before the “big day”, and I am struck by thoughts of the first time I met the man I am about to marry…Mike Moore.  It’s more like, do I remember the first day we met??? Of course I do, because, as Mike would say, I have the memory of an elephant.  I know that many of you have romantic stories about the “the first time ever I saw your face…” (Props to Roberta Flack) and I can’t help but think about the first time I met the infamous Mike Moore.  I wouldn’t say it was exactly romantic however, very in line with the Mike Moore and Sara Anderson style of communication.  So it goes a little something like this [hit it, ode the Beastie Boys]…It was a warm summer day and I’m about 19ish.  I am wearing a hideous pair of gap overalls, plain white T,  and Doc martin sandals, you know the kind that look like Birkenstocks, ( as if they couldn’t make Doc Martins any more ugly than they already are) no make-up because I was trying to be in touch with my youthful Santa Cruz self and hair straight and long.

I walk into the back of the Spokesman bike shop to meet my friend Greg Caron when suddenly, I lay eyes on this young man who was buzzing around the shop.  He was wearing white Simples with bright green bottoms (they looked like golf shoes) white checkered shorts and a white T.  As if that weren’t enough he even had green hair, and I would later discover that Green day was one of his favorite bands at the time.

So, I turn to my friend Greg and inquire, “Who is that 14 year old running around like he owns the place”?  To my disbelief, Greg chuckles and replies, “oh…that’s the manager”, I counter, “no way”! I quickly walk to the front of the shop where Mike is now cleaning the display case and I ask rhetorically, “so…what does your mother think of all those tattoos”?  Without missing a beat Mike retorts, “What does your mother think of your mouth????”   I thought at that very moment, “what a Jerk”!  That was not the time  I fell in love with Michael Sean Moore, but rather the time that I realized I had met my match or came to terms with the fact that there was someone more quick witted and sarcastic than I.  How could this be?  I pondered.

To be continued…

  1. Okay, since we are all being honest... I wore that same exact outfit at 19... gap overalls, white T, Doc Martens. Good lord what were we thinking?

    Too cute! Jess

    Jaker here,
All I remember about Mike back then was that he was a living breathing cycling textbook. He knew chapter and verse everything there was to know about the industry.
